SCARS / OUARC
No-Code Technician Class
Student Handout
Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the Novice / Technician session of the Amateur Radio Licensing class offered by the South Canadian Amateur Radio Society (S.C.A.R.S.) and the OU Amateur Radio Society (OUARC).
Textbooks:
If you read and study the course workbook titled "Now You're Talking" and you pay attention in class, the FCC test will not be difficult. Note: This is a government type test and all of the questions and answers are in your book. The test will consist of about 55 randomly selected items from the back of your book. The books are available from Radio Shack for $19.95 plus tax, or you can order them from Mark Kleine for $15.00.
Class sessions:
This class session will run for 8 consecutive weeks. The 7th night of class, March 4, 1996, we will have you complete all of the paperwork for the test and review the material answering any questions that you may have. The test will be given on the 8th week of this class, March 11, 1996. The test will be given here at this location. You MUST bring 2 forms of identification and at least one must contain a photograph. If you are going to have trouble with this, please see one of the test givers before the last night.
Class Layout:
This class will be about 50% video material and 50% demonstration and lecture. If you have any questions on a topic, be sure to raise them during the class. PLEASE read the material before you attend each class. It will make the video and discussion much more relevant. If you have trouble with the reading, just read through it so that you are familiar with the terms. The video will clarify most of the topics and the instructor will help you with the rest.
Impromptu Meetings:
The local HAMs meet around town to talk radio and just about anything else! You are welcome to attend any of these meetings. Introduce yourself as a member of the class and these guys will talk your ear off and might even answer any questions that you may have. None of them have been known to bite...
